Convocation wraps up

The degrees have been conferred and framed, the flowers put in water, the pictures of glowing graduates and their families posted to Facebook and the dress shoes replaced with flip flops. Convocation has concluded for another year at Nipissing University.

Wrapping up yesterday in Brantford, with some 200 graduates from the collaborative concurrent Bachelor of Education Program crossing the stage at the Sanderson Centre to receive their degrees, convocation offered much to celebrate.

Nipissing conferred roughly 1,300 degrees over the course of seven ceremonies, six in North Bay and one in Brantford, this is in addition to the six honorary degrees, the university’s highest distinction, that were awarded to Edmund Metatawabin, Graeme Murray, Tom Hedican, Commissioner J.V.N (Vince) Hawkes, Susan Nelles Pine and Dr. Colin Simpson.

NU News will be rolling out exclusive video interviews of all our honorary degree recipients in the coming weeks; this week we feature Dr. Edmund Metatawabin and Dr. Graeme Murray.
