Credit/Refund Deadline date for a complete Program withdrawal are as follows

Fall Term - 100% before September 15th - 0% credit thereafter.

Winter Term - 100% before January 16th - 0% credit thereafter.

Spring/Summer Term - 100% before May 8th - 0% credit  thereafter.

Official withdrawal letters must be sent to the Registrar office by email by the posted dates above. Please email directly to  registrar@nipissingu.ca.

Nursing 1.5 Credit Courses​

Students must drop courses within the posted drop schedule time frame to receive credit on their student account equal to the percentage of tuition indicated below.

Registration for Partial Credit Courses will be permitted until the day the Partial Credit Course begins.  You may also drop a partial credit course before or on the day it starts.  Partial Credit Courses may be dropped without academic consequence by midnight on the day of the first meeting.  Partial Credit Courses dropped the day after the first meeting will be recorded as a WDR.

Dropping a partial credit course before the day it starts will incur no tuition or ancillary charges.  Dropping a partial credit course on the day it starts will incur a 50% tuition charge and 100% ancillary charge.  Dropping the partial credit course after the first class meeting date will incur​ a 100% tuition and ancillary fee charge.

Partial Credit Course (PHED) Drop Schedule​ (Less than 3 Credits)

Students must drop courses within the posted drop schedule time frame to receive credit on their student account equal to the percentage of tuition indicated below.

2026 Summer Institute (SI) Course Drop Schedule

For 100% credit, Courses must be dropped within the first two (2) days of the course.  Dropping  a course on the third (3rd) day, will result in  50% ​Tuition credit only applied.  Courses dropped on or after the fourth (4th) day will not receive credit.

Graduate Awards and Funding Process

Unless otherwise indicated, all graduate awards and funding are paid out in three equal instalments throughout​ the fall, winter and spring terms.

Graduate funding will always go to any balance owing first. If funding results in a credit on the student account, students must complete a refund request to have the balance deposited to their bank account. 

Please note, the Finance Office will begin processing all 2025-26 refund requests after the following dates:

Fall installment: September 30th, 2025
Winter installment: January 31st, 2026
Spring/Summer installment: May 6th, 2026

Nipissing University issues refunds by direct deposit to student bank accounts, set up on your student WebAdvisor account under the Financial Information tab. Please ensure you have entered your banking information correctly in order to have refunds processed and direct deposited in a timely manner.

To Setup Direct Deposit

  • Log on to WebAdvisor and click on View Banking Information.
  • Click +Add an Account, then Activate Refund, Reimbursement & Payment Deposit and click Next.
  • Fill in all required fields and check the box to agree to the terms and conditions at the bottom

In certain circumstances, Nipissing University will issue a refund cheque on a student's account, by request only. Direct deposit is the preferred method for all refund requests. 

Refunds will not be issued prior to the final drop date each semester.

Students may request a refund by submitting a Refund Request Form

For students receiving OSAP funding: As per your signed OSAP declaration, any refund of fees must be directed back to the National Student Loan Service Centre, regardless of the source of the payment(s)​.

Please note, any student who completely withdraws from Nipissing University must notify the Finance Office after their courses have been dropped. At that time their account will be reconciled and any refunds, if applicable, will be processed.

All International Students requesting a refund due to a complete withdrawal must contact the Finance Department by email: finance@nipissingu.ca  Detailed instructions on how to proceed with a refund request will be provided.
