NUSA Team
Bhavya Setia
Director of Events
I'm Bhavya Setia, a finance enthusiast with a passion for making a positive impact on society. Currently, I'm pursuing my Post Baccalaureate Diploma in Finance, eager to expand my knowledge and skills in the financial world.
My professional journey has been an exciting blend of experiences. I honed my analytical skills during my time at KPMG in audit, where I gained valuable insights into financial practices and teamwork. Now, I'm balancing my studies with a part-time role as a cashier at Walmart, where I enjoy interacting with customers and contributing to the local community.
When I'm not immersed in numbers or helping customers, you'll find me engrossed in a good book, on a badminton court, or tending to my little garden. These hobbies keep me grounded and provide a perfect balance to my professional pursuits.
I'm driven by a desire to make a positive difference in the world. My soft corner for people in need has led me to volunteer at a school for the blind in India, an experience that deeply impacted me and reinforced my commitment to social causes. I'm particularly passionate about education for everyone, believing it's a powerful tool for societal progress.
As a hard-working individual, I strive to excel in everything I do, whether it's my studies, work, or volunteer activities. I'm excited to continue growing in the finance field while using my skills and knowledge to contribute to a better world. My goal is to combine my financial expertise with my passion for social impact, creating positive change one step at a time.
Thazin Maung
Director of Membership
Hello, my name is Thazin and I am an international student from MYANMAR currently pursuing a Post Baccalaureate Diploma in Marketing at Nipissing University. My professional experiences in FMCG and e-commerce sectors have given me a solid background in understanding consumer behaviour, brand management, and market dynamics which I am excited to leverage this knowledge in my academic journey and future career.
I am excited to join the Nipissing University Student Alumni (NUSA) team where I will be able to contribute to fostering meaningful connections between current students and alumni enriching the campus life. Strong relationships are the key to creating a vibrant campus community. Through my involvement, I hope to develop meaningful relationships and engage my fellow students to participate in alumni events and make sure everyone feels connected and valued.
Beyond my academic and leadership pursuits, music is a significant part of my life that brings me joy and inspiration. I find that music has the unique power to connect and unite people across all cultures and inspire creativity. My passion for music also encourages me to think outside of the box and approach challenges with innovative ideas.
I look forward to collaborating with fellow students, alumni, and faculty to create a supportive and dynamic environment that inspires all of us and contributes to a legacy that lasts long after graduation. Together, as we say, "Students today, Lakers forever!"
Ryan Yeung
Director of Communications
Hello, my name is Ryan Yeung. As a 3rd-year Concurrent BPHE student at Nipissing University, I’m passionate about fostering a supportive and forward minded environment. A background in helping others, coupled with a commitment to lifelong learning, has allowed me to excel in team settings.
Beyond the classroom, I'm actively involved in the Nipissing University and North Bay communities, volunteering at various organizations such as The Gathering Place, Nipissing University Physical Health & Education Society, and United for Literacy. Through these experiences, I've honed my leadership and organizational skills, provided opportunities for my peers, and served others.
While not in class or out in the community, I enjoy playing and watching sports, cooking, and hanging out with friends
I'm eager to join the NUSA team, bringing a dedication to better our Nipissing community, and flexibility to help in whatever way I can.
