Biidaaban Youth Group

Biidaaban Youth Group (BYG) is an after school homework help program for Indigenous youth in Kindergarten to grade 6 attending the following schools:

Near North District School Board:

  • Silver Birches Public School
  • Sunset Park Public School
  • Woodlands Public School

Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic School Board:

  • Mother St. Brides Catholic Elementary School
  • Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Elementary School
  • St. Alexander Catholic Elementary School

Nipissing University student volunteer tutors support youth with academics and host recreational, social and artistic activities.

BYG takes place at the North Bay Indigenous Friendship Centre (980 Cassells Street). Transportation is provided free of charge for youth from their school to the program. Parents are responsible for pick-up at the end of the program. 

Program time and dates 

3 pm to 5 pm on the following 15 Thursdays:

2019: October 3, 10, 31 / November 6, 13, 20

2020: January 9, 16, 23, 30 / February 6, 13 / March 5, 12, 26

Youth registration 

Registration opens Thursday, September 12th. Children must attend  one of the above schools to participate. Parents are responsible for child pick-up at 5 pm. To register your child/children or for more information, contact Christine Benoit at 705-474-3450 ext. 4586 or email christb@nipissingu.ca.
