Province funds creation of innovation cluster
GeneralResearchNew funding from the Province of Ontario will grow intellectual property literacy within multiple institutions and ecosystems across Northern and rural areas of Ontario, including Nipissing University in North Bay. This funding, distributed by Intellectual Property Ontario (IPON), will foster the creation of a Northern and rural innovation cluster focused on critical minerals, cleantech, and battery electric technologies. Led by Laurentian, the partnership includes Lakehead, Trent, and Nipissing Universities and will provide $294,000 for the one-year pilot project. -

Registration open for summer youth camps at Nipissing
GeneralAthleticsRegistration for Nipissing University’s Summer Youth Camps is now open. This year, the University is offering a wide variety of camps for all ages and interests, including several new themed camps such as Space Explorers, Animal Kingdom, Camp “STRONG”, Puppet Theatre, Story Camp, and more. The popular Lakers sports camps, led by Nipissing’s head coaches and varsity athletes, will also be offered. -

Teacher candidates roll up their sleeves for food literacy
GeneralPhysical and Health EducationEarlier this term, the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit (Health Unit) transported its blender bike and a variety of healthy ingredients to the Nipissing University Student Union (NUSU) Student Centre as part of a training session for teacher candidates at Nipissing on how to teach food literacy skills. The session was organized by Dr. Melissa Corrente, Health and Physical Education instructor at Nipissing University in the Schulich School of Education. -
