Meet student leader Daryl Tjin

Nipissing students consistently impress as leaders, in the classroom, on campus and in the community.  Recently the university celebrated 25 student leaders at the annual Dave Marshall Leadership Awards.  Over the coming months, NU News will introduce each student leader to the wider community with a short article discussing their accomplishments and activities. Today, we are pleased profile bachelor of physical and health education student Daryl Tjin.

Academically, Tjin is one of the top students in the four-year bachelor of physical and health education program at Nipissing University. Her grade-point-average across all years is approximately 90 per cent. She has been awarded the Schulich Scholarship in 2013, and the President’s Scholarship in 2014 and 2015 respectively.

Tjin is remarkably gifted, hardworking, and a responsible student. She sets a positive academic example her peers. Her drive to accomplish her goals and willingness to seek new educational opportunities is an inspiration to those around her. She shows deep interest in her research and is currently studying whether psychological deception can be used as a tool to improve human exercise performance in a hot environment. Through her research, she has demonstrated an excellent ability to think and work independently.

Tjin is a role model in particular for our female students in Nipissing’s four-year bachelor of physical and health education program, and for young women in general, considering a career in science technology engineering and mathematics.

The university community is proud to recognize Tjin with a Dave Marshall Leadership Award in the Academic Category.
