Ontario Human Rights presenting two days of sessions

Nipissing University welcomes the Ontario Human Rights Commission to campus for two days of information sessions on a variety of human rights related topics, November 24 and 25.November 24 features a free one-day event, titled Taking it Local: an update on human rights. It includes plenary and concurrent sessions on human rights topics. The event kicks off at 8:30 a.m. in the Nipissing Theatre (F213), before breaking out into smaller sessions. It runs until 4 p.m. Featured speakers include guests from the OHRC, Nipissing University and the City of North Bay.

November 25 features a free day of training on the OHRC policy on preventing discrimination based on creed, running from 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. in room A252.
The event will provide an overview of key issues in the new policy including forms of discrimination based on creed, ?the duty to accommodate creed beliefs and practices, and accommodating Indigenous spiritual practices (new section); and interactive scenario-based learning drawing from legal cases.
