Local MPP follows in registered nurses’ footsteps

While touring the nursing simulation lab for the Nipissing University and Canadore College Collaborative Nursing program, Nipissing’s MPP Vic Fedeli learned more about the successes and challenges of practicing as a registered nurse (RN) in Ontario’s health-care system. Nursing students and faculty showed off the specialty lab and invited MPP Fedeli to observe and even participate in simulation scenarios. Simulation helps students train hands-on in a low-risk environment, which improves their skills, builds confidence, contributes to safe patient care. The use of simulation enhances learning and ultimately translates into patients receiving the highest quality of nursing care in our health-care system. The visit was spearheaded by the local chapter of The Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario (RNAO), the professional association representing registered nurses in Ontario.
