CIC talk on the economics of energy

The Nipissing Branch of the Canadian International Council (CIC) is pleased to welcome John Foster, international economist, to campus for an important presentation on the current economics of energy on Tuesday September 22, from 7 – 9 p.m. in the Weaver Auditorium (B200)
TitledHot Spots around the World. Is there a petroleum connection? Foster will draw on his expertise to reflect on the current economics of energy as it connects to conflict around the world.

Foster is an international petroleum economist who has worked at the World Bank, Inter-American Development Bank and two oil companies (BP and Petro-Canada). 

Foster has presented his research at several universities and spoken at CIC Branches in Thunder Bay, Saskatoon, South Saskatchewan, Edmonton, Calgary and Victoria.  His earlier research on Afghanistan and pipeline politics was published by the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives in 2008 and became banner headlines in the Globe and Mail.  Other articles of Foster’s have appeared in the Globe and Mail, Toronto Star, and Journal of Energy Security from Washington, DC.
