NU Reads is getting ready to open the book on its seventh year of nurturing a love of literacy in children through reading groups and one-on-one discussions and activities. The free literacy program offers theme-centered programming rooted in authentic literacy for two age groups: 4-7 year olds and 8-12 year olds. NUmeracy is NU Read’s fall program and focuses on math literacy, and the ways in which math and science can strengthen literacy skills. Registration is filling up quickly, with only 15 spots open in the 8-12 year old age group. Sessions run for about 60 minutes and are held at the North Bay Public Library. The age 4-7 group starts at 10 a.m.; the age 8-12 group starts at 11:30 a.m. Program dates and themes are:     October 18: Let's Compare! November 1: Tick Tock Time November 15: Playing with Patterns November 29: Experiment Day!    You can get more information and register here.
