NU helping break down barriers for a new workforce

Nipissing University is partnering with Northern Voice for a presentation to help break down employment barriers for students with a disability and to inform local employers about the value of hiring a person with a disability.

Building a New Workforce takes place on Thursday, January 30, 5:30 – 7 p.m. in room A246 on Nipissing’s North Bay campus.

Mark Wafer, Tim Horton’s Franchisee; and Joe Dale, executive director of Ontario Disability Employment Network will provide Keynote Addresses. They will help employers understand that hiring a person with a barrier can strengthen and enhance their workforce by improving retention, improving customer service, increasing productivity and reinforcing company loyalty.

A panel or employers will discuss best practices for managing skills and forecasting costs.

Interested employers can register by calling 705-476-3280, ext 243; or emailing klemieux@communitylivingnorthbay.org.
