Poster event showcases biology students’ research

Fourth-year biology and chemistry students at Nipissing are getting ready to wow an audience with their research knowledge at the third annual Biology and Chemistry Poster Event. Thesis students will present their poster projects, the culmination of a year of planning and conducting original and independent research, on April 25, 2013 at 6 p.m. in room A246. The nine students participating will present their work to professors and the public during the evening event. There are nine students presenting, representing a wide swath of research interests, from environmental science to genetics to chemical synthesis.

“Undergraduate students at Nipissing get a terrific opportunity to perform original research under the guidance of a faculty supervisor, said biology professor, Dr. Jeff Dech. “These students have all done some incredible work and this will be their first opportunity to share their results. Many of them may choose to pursue a graduate degree in biology. The Poster Event helps students build confidence and presentation skills that will serve them well in whatever path they may choose in life.”

The Poster Event is free of charge and all are welcome.
