Best Poster Award for MESc student

Congratulations to Nipissing Master of Environmental Science Student, Nathan Mountain, who won the Best Student Poster Award – Hydrology section at the Canadian Geophysical Union Eastern Student Conference - Biogeosciences and Hydrology Sections held at Wilfrid Laurier University on February 9.

His award winning poster is titledSource Water Contributions to Streamflow in the Wasi Watershed Using Stable Isotope Tracers.  It described his ongoing research examining sources of stream water in the Wasi watershed southeast of Callander. Working with Dr. April James and Dr. Krys Chutko in the Department of Geography, Mountain’s research will help better understand surface water and groundwater movement in the Wasi watershed with the long-term aim of improving understanding and management of water quality across the watershed and downstream in Callander Bay. Mountain braved a blizzard, which dropped 20 cm of snow on southern and central Ontario to make the conference, perhaps fitting for a student studying hydrology.
