Nipissing presents Harry Potter discussion

Death Eaters, Dementors and discussion will be on tap at Nipissing University, just in time for Halloween, as Dr. Sarah Winters presents Harry Potter and the Deathly Halloween, October 29 at 7 p.m. in the Thomson Reading Room of the Harris Learning Library.

In the best-selling Harry Potter series of books, Harry Potter loses his parents to murder, "the supreme act of evil," on Halloween. Once he learns this, he devotes the rest of his life to fighting that evil. Dr. Winters will examine the nature of evil in the series and the strategies it offers readers for recognizing and resisting it.

The presentation is free of charge and all are welcome.

The presentation is part of Nipissing’s new Award Winners Speakers Series, introduced this year in celebration of the university’s 20th anniversary as an independent degree granting institution. The series features Nipissing faculty who have earned a prestigious Research Achievement Award, speaking about their work.
