Muskoka campus joins the party

Muskoka Anniversary

Nipissing’s Muskoka campus got in the party spirit on Monday, December 3, with a celebration of Nipissing’s 20th anniversary as an independent university and the campus’ own Sweet 16th birthday. The campus welcomed about 100 special guests, who were treated to cake-pops, speeches and live music to mark the occasion.

As an added bonus, Nipissing also presented Cheryl Kelley,Director of Economic Development for the town of Bracebridge. with an Honorary Alumni Award.  Kelley is a member and Past Director of the Bracebridge Rotary Club, the Chair of the Rotary Centre Operating Committee, and Past Chair of the Economic Development Council of Ontario’s Tourism Committee. She has been involved in the development of the Houston Mural Program with young artists, the creation of the Houston Farmers’ Market, the organization of the International Winter Cities Forum in 1999 and the 2000 Scott Tournament of Hearts.  More recently, she has worked on the expansions of Nipissing University and Georgian College in Bracebridge, the development of Bracebridge’s CONVERGENCE process and the Art in the Heart program.

Nipissing’s Muskoka campus opened in 1999 in Bracebridge.  In 2008, they opened their new,two-storey 26,000 square footcampus building and in 2011, they opened the doors to a three-story, 23,000 square foot residence with room for 53 students. The campus offers students the opportunity to study full-time or part-time towards a Bachelor of Arts degree in three different majors: an Honours degree in Child and Family Studies, a general degree in Culture and the Arts or a general Liberal Arts degree. Nipissing-Muskoka also offers a BA/BEd Concurrent program for Early Childhood Education graduates, Orientation to Teaching and a Bachelor of Commerce Dual degree.
