Lakers men's hockey adds Marcus Watson to roster

Nipissing University Lakers men's hockey team is pleased to announce that Marcus Watson, a native of San Jose CA, has committed to join the team and attend Nipissing University in the fall.

The 6'-3" Center played last year in Stockton CA for the Thunder in the ECHL. His previous clubs were the Moncton Wildcats of the QHL, in 06-07, and 2 years for the Prince George Cougars of the WHL, from 2007-2009.

Watson was able to visit the city of North Bay and Nipissing University in June, and chose Nipissing over other potential Universities. "I loved the feeling of friendliness I had on my visit to North Bay, and the opportunity to attend a small University appealed to me. I am looking forward to playing for the Lakers, living in North Bay and obtaining my Business degree from Nipissing University," stated Watson.

Laker head coach Mike McParland is happy with how the 2011 team is taking shape. " We announced two other strong players earlier in the month with Major Junior experience, Matt Paton and Doug Clarkson, and I'm equally pleased to announce the commitment of Marcus Watson. Securing someone of Marcus' size, that can play center for us, will be a solid addition to the team."

Lakers season tickets are now on sale at the Memorial Gardens box office.

Registration for the Lakers’ Youth Hockey Camps is also taking place.
