Headstart at Brantford Campus

Nipissing University’s Brantford Campus, in partnership with Laurier Brantford, gave Year 1 teacher candidates their first glimpse into University life during Headstart Orientation sessions.  On June 29, July 6 and 7, approximately 150 first year students and guests visited Nipissing University's 50 Wellington Street building to take part in program specific information sessions.  Both parents and students learned about the Concurrent Education Program and student life at the Brantford Campuses of Nipissing and Laurier.A number of current teacher candidates volunteered as Headstart leaders and assisted new students with course registration. Students and their families also had the opportunity to tour campus facilities, including residence buildings, and speak to representatives from various campus organizations and services at a campus information fair.  Nipissing had staff and Faculty representation at the fair to answer questions related to practicum and program initiatives.
Many first year students showed a keen interest in extra-curricular involvement and are looking forward to becoming involved on campus.  Both students and their families were able to experience the strong sense of community that they will become a part of when they are on campus in September.
