​Paul Kelly is an artist based in Thornhill, Ontario. His work is displayed in many public and private collections across Canada. Kelly has been widely recognized for his contributions to the fields of landscape painting, design and semiotics, art education and art history.

Kelly previously lived and taught in North Bay, Ontario where he was a Professor of Fine Art at Nipissing University (1990-2014). Prior to this he taught in the Visual Communications Department, Medicine Hat College, Alberta and in the Fashion Department, Ryerson University in Toronto. He holds a Ph.D from the University of Oregon (1989) with a dissertation in semiotics, an MA in Art from Wayne State University (1977), and an Associate Diploma in Design from Bolton College of Art and Design, Lancashire, UK (1971). Kelly’s early training in art began at Central Technical School, Toronto (1967).

In 2004, eleven galleries in Quebec, Ontario and Alberta mounted Paul Kelly: Along the Roads of the Cambrain Shield, 2004-2006, a travelling exhibition of Kelly’s landscape works. Skin Deep, Life Drawing an exhibition that travelled to five venues in Ontario 2009-2011. A Retrospective covering fifty years of his work was held at the Visual Arts Centre of Clarington, June 2014.
