The teaching hub a vibrant space for staff and faculty to gather and share knowledge.

The Centre for Teaching and Learning is committed to excellence, leadership, and transformation in curricular planning, teaching and learning practice, and scholarship. We collaborate with faculty, staff and students across the university, focusing on transformational teaching and learning practice by providing professional development, consulting services, educational technology support, extended learning opportunities and administration, and supporting educational leadership.

    Informed by Nipissing’s Academic Plan and Operational Plan, with its clear commitments to student experience, procedural integrity, Truth and Reconciliation, and Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (EDIA), the Centre for Teaching and Learning will  

    • Support faculty and teaching staff in identifying, creating, and sharing meaningful and inclusive learning experiences for Nipissing students and community members 
    • Foster a culture of accountable and innovative pedagogy that honours our collective responsibility to Truth and Reconcilation, nurturing a diverse learning community where Indigenous ways of knowing are centred and celebrated 
    • Investigate and advise on effective and innovative educational technologies in online and classroom settings 
    • Co-create and support strong processes for the development, facilitation, and recognition of teaching excellence and educational leadership at both individual and curricular levels 
    • Encourage pedagogical and program experimentation in a barrier-free, positive environment for faculty and teaching staff 
    • Develop revenue streams of mutual benefit to Nipissing, North Bay, and our extended community

Participants will examine how culture influences communication, behaviours, values, and decision-making in educational and workplace environments. Through reflection, discussion, and practical examples, the workshop helps increase awareness of cultural differences and offers strategies for responding thoughtfully and inclusively in intercultural interactions.
