HOURS OF WORK:                        35hrs/ week

RATE OF PAY:                                 $16.55/hour plus Vacation Pay as determined by HR Policy

JOB DESCRIPTION:        

The International Student Support (ISS) Student Assistants assist with the coordination and promotion of International Student Mentorship Program (ISMP) and World University Service of Canada (WUSC) Local Committee events and activities, as well as, updating departmental policies and procedure documentation. They assist with recruiting ISMP mentors for the academic year. Student Assistants assist with planning and preparation for Fall International Student Orientation and arrival pick-up. They also help with the ISS social media pages.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

The International Student Support (ISS) Student Assistant will assist with the following:

  • Assist with creating resources for incoming international students to support their transition to Canada
  • Assist with planning communications with incoming international students
  • Assist with the ISMP mentor training and ISMP involvement in International Student Orientation
  • Working with WUSC Local Committee for program, event planning, and recruitment for the school year ahead
  • Assist with planning for international student orientation and support of Lakers Orientation
  • Assist with working with the ISMP executive team to plan ISMP events and trips
  • Assist with office tasks; applications, agendas, orientation booklets, student resources, etc.
  • Assist with content creation for the International Student Support social media accounts
  • Other duties as assigned. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have completed at least one-year of studies at Nipissing University
  • Strong verbal, written, and visual communication skills
  • Excellent level of responsibility, reliability, and punctuality
  • Familiarity with the experience of international students at Nipissing University
  • Knowledge of Nipissing University programs, initiatives, and services that promote student academic and personal success.
