About the Job

The County of Bruce is seeking qualified candidates for a Student position with the Human Services department, to work in their Kincardine and Walkerton locations. 

The position is 35 hours per week from May through to the end of August.

Wage: $16.00 per hour

The successful candidate will provide customer service and administrative support to clients, the public and staff. 
Duties include greeting and directing visitors and clients to appropriate service area, answering and processing telephone calls, developing and processing written documents, data entry, assisting with accounting duties, assisting with or leading special projects and providing coverage for various positions during staff vacations.  A special focus for the work of this position will include projects that focus on using technology (i.e., software and various computer applications) to automate various workflow processes. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to multi-task are essential for success in this position.  The position will provide the successful applicant with a workplace opportunity that builds skill in knowledge in a diverse range or programs and services.

Requirements

Requirements:
Currently enrolled in a college/university program in a related discipline
Knowledge of office and administrative procedures and applicable reading, writing, math skills

Organizational and time management skills to work independently, handle competing/changing priorities, and report information for assigned projects.
Communication and customer service skills to explain information to clients, agencies, other staff, and the public; and participate as an effective team member.
information and documents and complete follow-according to instructions
Computer skills using software such as Microsoft Office and other database applications        
Must provide an acceptable policy records check
Ability to travel within the County

Assets
Strong understanding of Human Services and related agencies
Competent with using technology to design and implement software tools to support workflow processes
