Nin gii-kiiwe (I have come home)The Indigenous Studies program challenges the Eurocentric status quo that is all too easy to fall into. As a non-Indigenous student studying in a northern community on the territory of Nipissing First Nation, it is crucial to know, respect, and reciprocate Indigenous knowledge systems while learning first-hand the necessary steps to reconcile the right way. As a future educator, I am grateful to say the past four years in the program have and continue to shape decolonized teaching pedagogies.
