Join the Canadian International Council (CIC) Nipissing District Branch for a conversation with Jean-Francois Tardif, an independent consultant on international development and an advisor on economic issues at Results Canada, a leading advocacy organization on international development.

In 2020, the world was already falling behind in its efforts to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Then the pandemic hit - creating ripple effects that have severely affected health and education systems, as well as the economy in general.

These effects (so-called“COVID scarring”), which could have lasting consequences, are now compounded by other crises, exacerbated by the war in Ukraine: food crisis, fuel crisis, fertilizer crisis, as well as generalized inflation, high-interest rates and disrupted supply chains.

Can we address the current international security threats AND help the Global South tackle the deep multivariate wounds of COVID scarring in pursuit of the SDGs? Join us as we explore these multiple intersections on November 28, 2022 with Jean-Francois Tardif here at Nipissing University.

Jean-Francois Tardif has had a long and distinguished career with the federal government and in the field of international development. He holds a Graduate Degree from École Supérieure de Commerce de Paris with research in health economics, a Diplome of Institut d’Études Politiques de Paris (political economy) and an M.A. from Laval University in Policy Analysis.

This free event is open to everyone and will take place in Room H106 at Nipissing University (100 College Dr, North Bay, ON P1B 8L7) on Monday, November 28th at 4:00pm to 5:30pm. No registration is required.
