Please join us in celebrating Carrie Allison’s artwork, wîhwîw, "The Carnegie Response", created as part of the SSHRC- and Heritage Canada-funded research project, Our Guides Were Really Going Places / Nishnaabeg E-paamwingewaad Waasa Zhaawag (2020–2023).

This travelling exhibition was co-curated by Joan McLeod Shabogesic (Nipissing First Nation), Naomi Hehn (North Bay Museum), and Kirsten Greer (Nipissing University), in partnership with Nipissing First Nation, Dokis First Nation, the North Bay Museum, the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, Ingenium: Canada’s Museums of Science and Innovation, the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, and Nipissing University.

The exhibition has toured North Bay, Dokis First Nation, the Sault Ste. Marie Museum, Thunder Bay Museum, and Timmins Museum. This fall, it will continue its journey to the Carnegie Museum of Natural History in Pittsburgh, where wîhwîw, "The Carnegie Response" (2022) has been acquired for the museum’s permanent collection.

This project was funded by Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, Canada Research Chair Program, and Heritage Canada’s Museum Assistance Program.
