Applications for the Mining Industry Experience Program (MiEX) are opening January 5, 2026!
MiEX is an immersive two-week paid learning program designed for first-year post-secondary students studying science technology, engineering and math. Participants will learn from industry professionals and tour real mining operations to help them make informed decisions about their future studies and career paths.
Following a successful pilot in Australia, the Mining Industry Human Resources Council (MiHR) is launching MiEX in Canada with the support of CIM, Agnico Eagle, Cameco, Newmont, Rio Tinto and Teck.

Eligible applicants must be:
- 18+in their first year of post-secondary STEM studies
- Available May 4–15, 2026 for in-person learning
- Ready to fly or commute for up to 4 days on-site (travel covered!)
- Canadian citizen or permanent resident
While the program will run in Vancouver, Saskatoon and Montreal, applicants are welcome from any post-secondary school.
