Compensation: Salary Grid Range: $58,758 - $72,318

About the Position

The Employment Consultant is a key member of the Integrated Employment Services (IES) team, supporting clients throughout their employment journey, beginning with the initial assessment and continuing through to long-term retention. This role provides career coaching, workshop facilitation, and coordinated wraparound support. Employment Consultants work closely with Job Developers and internal partners to ensure clients receive individualized, goal-aligned services. A core component of this role is the use of motivational interviewing to foster engagement, build confidence, and support client-led decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Client Engagement & Coaching

  • Provide a welcoming, inclusive first point of contact for clients entering our services
  • Deliver trauma-informed, strengths-based coaching to support clients in setting and achieving career and training goals
  • Apply motivational interviewing techniques—including open-ended questions, affirmations, reflective listening, and summarizing—to foster client engagement, explore ambivalence, and help clients identify their own pathways forward
  • Conduct needs assessments, determine program eligibility, and develop personalized action plans
  • Maintain a balanced caseload and track client progress through regular follow-ups and file documentation
  • Support clients with navigating barriers to employment, including digital literacy, system access, and social/emotional challenges

Collaboration & Integrated Service Delivery

  • Collaborate proactively with Job Developers to ensure clients are matched with appropriate employment opportunities based on readiness and employer needs
  • Participate in case conferences, internal team meetings, and joint service planning to ensure consistent, client-centered support
  • Refer clients to appropriate external services and community supports as needed
  • Contribute to continuous service improvement through feedback, innovation, and collaborative planning

Workshop Facilitation

  • Design, update, and facilitate employment workshops tailored to diverse learning styles and employment readiness levels
  • Ensure workshop content reflects current labour market trends, job search best practices, and skills development strategies
  • Adapt facilitation techniques to foster inclusive, interactive, and learner-centered environments in both virtual and in-person settings
  • Encourage active participation and self-reflection during workshops to reinforce key concepts and build confidence

Qualifications

  • University degree in Social Sciences, Human Services, or related field preferred
  • Experience in employment consulting, coaching, adult education, or workforce development considered a strong asset
  • Demonstrated ability to apply empathetic, inclusive, and trauma-informed approaches
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities
  • Skilled in conflict resolution and crisis intervention
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; thrives in a collaborative, team-based setting
  • Strong digital literacy, including proficiency with MS Office, databases, assistive technologies, and remote platforms
  • Basic troubleshooting skills for office technologies (printers, tablets, etc.) an asset
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset
