Position Title: Student Housekeeping Assistant (4 months)
Closing Date: Open until filled
Employment Dates: May 4th , 2026 to August 28th, 2026 (17 weeks)
Hours of Work: 35 hours per week
Rate of Pay: $17.60 per hour + Vacation as determined by HR policy
Job Description:
- Cleaning residence common areas daily (includes lobbies, laundry rooms, office, public washrooms etc.)
- Room setups as required by corporate events clients in the residence buildings
- Cleaning and turnover of residence bedrooms, suites, and townhouses as required for summer guests (cleaning bathrooms, common areas, kitchens, bed making, garbage removal etc.)
- Daily housekeeping services for groups (daily bed making, towel change and suite cleaning)
- Report any deficiencies or damages in residence rooms, units and/ or buildings in a timely and efficient manner
- Complex turn over (cleaning and preparation) from the academic year to the summer accommodation season and back to academic year at the end of the summer (includes refrigerators, stoves, toilets, etc.)
- Annual ‘deep cleaning’ program (e.g. window cleaning, vent and duct cleaning, upholstery and carpet cleaning, washing curtains, etc.)
- General outdoor clean-up occasionally (includes removal of garbage, etc.)
- Moving furniture/equipment as required
- Provide tourist information and general North Bay information to visitors and guests
- Other related duties as required
Sample Work Division:
- 90% housekeeping and annual cleaning program; 10% other related duties
Minimum Qualifications:
- Able to work as part of a team
- Exceptional communication and customer service skills
- A high degree of willingness to serve the public
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
- A dedication to the University

- Positive attitude
- Motivated self-starter
- Able to take initiative
- Must be able to lift awkward equipment weighing up to 25 kilograms
- Able to work rotating shifts
- Availability to work weekends and holidays (i.e. Canada Day, Civic Holiday, etc.)
- Must not be taking spring, evening or summer continuing education courses, or be engaged by any other agency due to the scheduling of shift work (online courses would be acceptable if they would not interfere with shift scheduling)
- Must provide a copy of a current negative Criminal Reference Check at time of hiring
