Independent Caregiver Needed for Medically Complex Young Man
Description :
We are seeking a compassionate and reliable caregiver to join our team in helping provide care and support to our medically complex son. The ideal candidate will already have existing medical knowledge, or be someone without medical knowledge who is willing to learn about medically complex seizures.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain vigilance and attentiveness at all times due to daily multiple seizures.
- Administer necessary medications or treatments as directed.
- Personal tasks as needed (toileting, and hygiene, basic chores such as cooking, cleaning).
- Provide companionship and emotional support.
- Provide support outside of home for extracurricular activities.
Requirements:
- Compassionate and patient demeanour.
- Ability to maintain alertness on all shifts (days, afternoons, nights).
- Valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and valid insurance (a copy will be request upon acceptance to provide care).
- Physical and mental stamina to keep up with our son and to complete assigned tasks and incidental activities (basic chores).
Wage:
- Licensed Nurse - $50.00/hr - $60.00/hr
- Graduate PSW - $40.00 - $45.00/hr
- Without Medical Experience/Education - $35.00/hr
Expected Hours:
- Part time 25-30 ish weekly. Can lead to full time hours in the future.
- Shifts include, day, a few night shifts, every third weekend, some holidays, with the commitment of also picking up extra hours to cover sick days and vacation time.
- Please note: this is a long term requirement, not a summer or seasonal position.
