Position Title: Corporate Event Assistant

Hours of Work: Average 35 hours per week

Rate of Pay: $17.60 per hour + Vacation as determined by HR policy

Job Description:

The Corporate Events Assistant will work directly with the Conference & Events Supervisor to support the successful execution of on-campus corporate and special events. Responsibilities include creating and posting directional signage, maintaining event resources, assisting with A/V setup, checking on catering, preparing meeting spaces, and interacting with clients and campus partners. The student will respond to questions, troubleshooting issues as they arise, and ensure event spaces are welcoming and well-organized. The role also includes providing support to the Lakers Shop through retail and online sales as needed.

We’re looking for a student who thrives in a fast-paced, service-focused environment, communicates clearly and professionally, and adapts easily as event needs shift throughout the day. Strong organizational skills, sound judgment, and the ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and proactively flag challenges or workflow concerns are essential to success in this position. The ideal candidate is personable, dependable, and committed to delivering excellent client experience on behalf of the University.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Exceptional communication and customer service skills, with the ability to engage professionally with clients, guests, and campus partners
  • Flexible and adaptable, comfortable working in a dynamic environment where priorities may change quickly
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and proactively identify workflow concerns
  • Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Office required)
  • Personable, approachable, and committed to delivering a positive guest experience
  • Demonstrated responsibility, reliability, and punctuality
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends
  • Knowledge of the University, and of the City of North Bay and surrounding areas, is an asset
