New Exhibit Honours Legacy of Paul Commanda and Indigenous Guides
ArticleA new exhibit, developed in partnership with Nipissing First Nation, Dokis First Nation, Nipissing University and the Carnegie Museum of Natural History (Pittsburgh), is now on display at the North Bay Museum, honouring the work of Paul Commanda, the Nbisiiing Guides and their contributions to science. Entitled Our Guides are Really Going Places/Nishnaabeg e-paamwingewaad waasa zhaawag: Nbisiiing Guides and the Legacy of Paul Commanda, the exhibit showcases the photographs and stories of the Indigenous Guides who led the Carnegie Museum expeditions that occurred between 1901 and 1958. -

In light of this, Nipissing University has been actively working with the Near North Landlords’ Association, the Nipissing University Student Union (NUSU) and Canadore College, to encourage members of the community to consider the benefits of renting a space in their home to a student. -
