Durham Regional Police Constable and Lakers alumnus Frank Longo started on his academic path in criminal justice in his high school law classes, where he developed a passion for analyzing crime trends, criminal law, and psychology. At Nipissing University, he pursued a degree in Criminal Justice while also competing as a student-athlete. After graduating, he remained involved with Lakers athletics as a staff coach for the women's lacrosse team before launching his career in policing.

Nipissing University third-year Fine Arts students, Ross Kozuskanich and Ellie Laberge recently collaborated with artist and Nipissing Associate Professor of Fine and Visual Arts, Andrew Ackerman, on a sculptural installation featured in the 2025 Ice Follies exhibition. Their piece, Fire and Flood, examined humanity’s fragile relationship with nature, exploring themes of climate change and resilience. The installation resonated with the festival's theme, Ozhaashikwaa (The Ice is Slippery), capturing the instability and vulnerability of the natural world amid unprecedented climatic change. 

On March 6, the Nipissing Violence Against Women Coordinating Committee (VAWCC) will host Together for Justice: Education and Advocacy for Community Change, a free, all-day event at the Nipissing University Student Union (NUSU) Student Centre Building on College Drive.
