National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women
December 6, 1989 marks the day an armed man walked into an engineering class at I'école Polytechnique de Montréal and killed 14 women and injured ten more. This incident led Parliament to designate December 6 as The National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.
We invited students, staff and faculty to visit the Teaching Hub Auditorium (A250A) anytime between 10 am - 4 pm, on December 6th, The National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women, to help commemorate the lives of the 14 women whose lives were taken in a violent act of misogyny in 1989 and reaffirm our commitment to fight the hatred that led to this tragedy and the misogyny that still exists today.
