Job Description:

Major Emphasis of Position

To educate students in accordance to the guidelines and regulations outlined by the Manitoba Department of Education and School District of Mystery Lake.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach diligently and faithfully according to the terms of this agreement with the school board and according to the Schools’ Act and the regulations.
  • Keep a record of attendance in the manner and such form as required by the school board.
  • Maintain order and discipline in the school.
  • Notify the principal who shall notify the appropriate local health authority of the area in which the school is situated or where there is no local health authority the school board that he has reason to believe a pupil attending the school has been exposed to or is suffering from a communicable disease as defined in the Public Health and regulations made thereunder.
  • Seize or cause to be seized and take possession of any offensive or dangerous weapon that is brought to school by a pupil and hand over any such weapon to the principal.
  • Deliver or cause to be delivered or provide the parent or guardian of each pupil taught by him reports of the pupil at the times and in the manner determined by the school board.
  • Performs such other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Principal (ie: recess and other supervisory duties).

Required Qualification:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Manitoba Teacher's Certificate or eligibility for teacher certification in the Province of Manitoba.
  • Must have a music major/minor, and/or a B.Ed., or extensive experience in choral music programs.
  • Ability to play piano is required. (Other instruments are an asset).
  • A high energy level and commitment to continuous improvement of our excellent choral program.
  • Demonstrated successful teaching in a junior/senior high setting.
  • Ability to work in collaboration with teachers/ music professionals in R.D Parker music team.
  • Ability to teach classes outside of the day
  • Ability to teach I.D.E.A.L. students
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in the differentiation of instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
  • A knowledge and sensibility to the traditions and aspirations of students with diverse abilities and background
  • A commitment to culturally proficient education.
  • Ability to build a program with a northern perspective.
  • A willingness to co-plan and travel with students to annual festivals and Sr. music tours.
