University life can bring both opportunities and challenges. The Mental Health & Wellbeing team is here to support you with a range of services to help you navigate challenges, build resilience, and care for your mental and emotional well-being throughout your time at university.

**All sessions are confidential, and we’ll walk through the confidentiality policy together at your first visit so you can ask any questions before you begin.**

Service Options

Service OptionDescription
Drop-In TherapySame-day appointments to address immediate concerns. Available virtually or in person (depending on availability). Must be booked the same day.
Counsellor-Assisted E-SupportFlexible, self-directed online modules combining education, reflection, and practice, with optional virtual or phone coaching. Includes modules on grief and resilience.
Peer SupportPeer-led service connecting students with others who have had similar experiences. Focuses on encouragement, hope, and supporting personal wellness journeys.
Dibaadan (Indigenous Support)Outreach, prevention, and intervention services grounded in an Indigenous wellness perspective. Open to all students (Indigenous and non-Indigenous). Learn about the History of Dibaadan
Group TherapyStructured groups that are practical and supportive, helping students learn and apply new skills and strategies in daily life.
Individual TherapyShort-term, one-on-one psychotherapy focused on helping students develop tools and strategies to meet their counselling goals.
BIPOC Student SupportOption for culturally sensitive psychotherapy that recognizes diverse lived experiences and mental health needs of BIPOC students. Learn about BIPOC Student Support
Specialized Care and ReferralCoordination with campus and community providers to ensure students have access to appropriate supports for their needs.
Outreach & Wellness Promotion (NUlistens)Campus-wide outreach program focused on mental health awareness, education, and prevention.
Distance & International StudentsMental Health & Wellbeing can only provide Counselling services to students living in Ontario. If you are a distance student living outside of Ontario, or an International student requesting support please reach out to us by e-mail at mhwellbeing@nipissingu.ca.

Appointment Booking Information

Appointments can be booked online through Telus Health Connect or by contacting the Mental Health & Wellbeing office for support.

Booking Steps:

Visit https://nipissingu.inputhealth.com/portal and log in using your Nipissing University Student ID and email. Enter the passcode sent to your email, then select Appointments → New Appointment. Choose your appointment type, format (virtual or in-person), and preferred date and time. Confirm your details and submit your request. You will receive confirmation and reminders by email.

Appointment Types

  • Initial (50 minutes): For students seeking support; includes care planning and culturally responsive, equity-focused approaches.
  • Follow-Up (50 minutes): For students already enrolled in a service pathway; otherwise, book an Initial appointment.
  • ⁠Same Day (50 minutes): Booked same day (until 2:00 PM or within 24 hours); focuses on immediate needs and may be a one-time session or first step in care.

Important Forms Requirement:

For all Initial and Same-day appointments, you will be sent two required forms to complete before your session. These must be completed in advance or your appointment cannot begin. When completing the forms, you must select at least one notification method (text or email). If no notification method is selected, you will not receive important automated appointment communications.

Using Telus Health Connect: Upon making an appointment will receive an email invitation to join Telus Health Connect. If you already have a Telus account from another clinic, log in and add Nipissing University Mental Health & Wellbeing as a clinic in your account.

You can access appointments through the website or mobile app. Features include virtual visits, secure messaging, form/questionnaire completion, and updating your information. A join link will be sent automatically 5 minutes before all virtual appointments.

Technical Tips:

Use Google Chrome. Ensure your camera and microphone are enabled in your browser settings. If you experience technical issues, contact the MHW office for assistance and we will help you connect.

Cancellations and Attendance:

If you need to cancel or reschedule, please provide at least 24 hours’ notice. If you cannot attend, please notify us as soon as possible so we can offer the time to another student. Late arrivals will not extend your session, and providers will sign out after 20 minutes if you are not present for a virtual session.
