Shinerama earns thousands to end CF

Nipissing University students were out in full force this past Saturday, putting a shine on North Bay, Sturgeon Falls and Powassan as part of the annual Shinerama campaign, raising awareness and money for Cystic Fibrosis Canada.

Thanks to the generosity of the community, as well as the student’s obvious passion for the project, a total of $9,347.80 was raised.

"We are so proud of our students for their dedication in raising money and awareness for Cystic Fibrosis. Their energy and drive to help others is what makes my job so incredible," said Xander Winter, Vice-President Communications for the Nipissing University Student Union.

Students raised money by washing vehicles and carrying groceries.

"Each year we are so impressed by the community's support and how welcoming they are to our students. This is always one of our favourite events, and we are proud to have raised as much money as we did," said Sarah Carlton, Nipissing University Student Union Shine Coordinator.

After a week of fun activities including Zumba, Yoga, Muddy Olympics, Beach Day and the Amazing Race, Frosh Week came to a close on Sunday after a community cleanup and a tour of the university.

The student union will continue raising money to end Cystic Fibrosis with events planned throughout year.
