Job Description:

Under the supervision of the Maintenance Services Supervisor, the Maintenance Repair student assists maintenance staff with the upkeep of residential and commercial housing units across the District of Nipissing. Responsibilities include supporting preventative maintenance, unit preparation, minor repairs, grounds work, and inspections, while ensuring compliance with safety standards, applicable codes, and the Residential Tenancies Act.

Required Qualification:
  • High school diploma or current enrolment
Desired Skills:
  • Previous building maintenance experience considered an asset
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety practices, including WHMIS; CPR/First Aid certification required
  • Ability to safely use tools and operate equipment to perform the functions of the position and assist with a wide range of maintenance repairs.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, occasionally stressful environment, including emergency situations
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work professionally, maintain confidentiality, and interact respectfully with diverse tenants and staff while demonstrating composure and compassion in challenging situations
