Students can utilize the in-person or virtual drop-in, or book a 45-min. appointment with the Student Learning Coordinator, Writing and Academic Skills for support with:

- Reading and note-taking strategies for academic texts
- Study strategies
- Academic goal setting and motivation
- Understanding academic integrity

Transcripts Request
Graduates will each receive one official transcript upon graduating. Transcripts for studies at Nipissing College prior to 1993 must be requested from Laurentian University.
As a result of the rotating Canada Post strike, any transcript requested through regular mail maybe be subject to delays. We recommend that you request your transcripts by courier or email until further notice.
Transcript Requests can now be completed online! You can complete the request form through this link here.
The cost of each transcript is $20. Payment is required prior to your request being processed. All transcript requests, including duplicate requests, are not refundable. Please ensure that you are requesting the appropriate documents prior to making your request.
Outstanding fees will prevent the release of your transcript.

Payment Methods:
- Payment can only be accepted by online banking, or cash(if in person). We cannot accept payments by credit card.
How to do Online Bank Payments
- Add "Nipissing University" as a Payee under the Pay Bills section of your online bank account.
- Use your 7-digit student number (starting with the zero) as the account number.
- Transfer the amount and please allow 2-3 business days for the money to be applied to your account.

Nipissing University is an accredited university with full membership in the Council of Ontario Universities (COU), the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC), and the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU).
In December of 1992, Nipissing University was established under the Statutes of the Province of Ontario as a self-governing degree-granting institution, Nipissing University College was an affiliate of Laurentian University from 1967 to 1992.
NOTE: All courses completed prior to May 1993 will also appear on a Laurentian transcript.
GRADING SCHEME
A. GRADING SCALE 80% - 100% A (Exceptional Performance) 70% - 79% B (Good Performance) 60% - 69% C (Satisfactory Performance) **50% - 59% D (Minimal Performance) 0% - 49% F (Failure) **Does not meet the minimum grade requirement in some instances. President's Scholarships
President's Scholarships are awarded to incoming full-time students with a minimum 90% admittance average. Yearly renewal requires a minimum sessional average of 85%.
Chancellor’s Awards
Chancellor’s Awards are presented to incoming full-time students. Recipients must have a minimum 85% admittance average and show a high involvement in personal leadership activities. Yearly renewal requires a minimum sessional average of 85%.
Carl Sanders Scholarships
Carl Sanders Scholarships are awarded to incoming full-time students with an admission average of at least 80% and continuing full-time students who have attained a sessional average of 80% or higher.
FIRST Robotics Scholarships
FIRST Robotics Scholarships are awarded to incoming students who have participated on a high school FIRST Robotics Competition team within the last two years and who have a minimum 85% admission average. Annual renewal requires a minimum sessional average of 85%.
President's Gold Medals
President's Gold Medals are honour awards presented to the graduating students who attain the highest academic average in all courses in each degree program.
Governor General Academic Medals
Governor General Academic Medals are awarded for academic excellence to the student graduating with the highest academic standing. Gold is awarded at the graduate level and silver at the undergraduate level.
J.W. Trusler Proficiency Awards
J.W. Trusler Proficiency Awards are presented to a graduating student in each major. Recipients are chosen by the respective faculty in each major, primarily on the basis of academic achievement. Students must have a minimum 80% overall average to qualify.

Summer Institutes:
Registration for Summer Institute courses will be permitted until the end of the second (2nd) day the Summer Institute course begins. You may also drop a Summer Institute course before or at the end of the second (2nd) day it starts. Summer Institute courses may be dropped without academic consequence by midnight on the third (3rd) day. Summer Institute courses dropped after the third (3rd) day will be recorded as a WDR.
For a 100% credit, you must drop the course within the first two (2) days of the course. Should you drop the course on the third (3rd) day, you will receive a 50% tuition credit. Courses dropped after the third (3rd) day will not receive a refund/credit.

What is the Academic Success Program?
The Academic Success Program (ASP) connects all students – regardless of academic standing - with resources, staff, and strategies to help them achieve their definition of academic success.
Your journey with the Academic Success Program can start with a direct outreach from a member of the ASP Team. As part of this program, a member of the ASP Team will be contacting you to help develop a personalized Academic Success Plan. Together, you will review your successes and challenges, and be connected to appropriate support services.

The ASP is a collaborative program that brings together different Nipissing University departments to help you meet your definition of success.
Student Learning Coordinators are academic success professionals who work with students to establish goals and develop the fundamental academic skills needed to meet their definition of success.
Academic Advisors work with students to navigate Nipissing University’s policies and requirements to ensure they are able to progress through their program in a way that fosters meaningful learning.
Mature/Transfer Student Success Coordinator offers tailored supports to meet the unique needs of the mature and transfer student populations at Nipissing University.
These professionals are equipped to provide active referrals to Nipissing University services including Student Counselling Services, Student Financial Services, Student Accessibility Services, and more.

Dr. Kevin Wamsley,President and Vice-Chancellor of Nipissing University
Dr. Kevin Wamsley is the seventh President & Vice-Chancellor of Nipissing University. Dr. Wamsley comes to Nipissing University after completing a five-year term as Academic Vice-President & Provost at St. Francis Xavier University, and serving for one year as Interim President. Previously, he served as Professor, Associate Dean, Acting Dean, and Director of the International Centre for Olympic Studies over the course of 18 years at Western University. Prior to that he was a professor and Associate Dean at the University of Calgary.
Dr. Wamsley has a keen interest in academic leadership, gleaned from a 30-year career in teaching, research, and administrative roles. Along with this scholarly background, he brings extensive leadership experience within the university and larger communities.
He has served 16 years in significant university administration roles, and has much leadership experience in academic success, curriculum development, student recruitment, retention and student relations, quality assurance reviews and reports, professional accreditation processes, faculty relations, and strategic planning.
Professor Wamsley is a graduate of Western, with both an Honors Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts, and holds a PhD from the University of Alberta.
He held a Sir Izaak Walton Killam Doctoral Scholarship during his graduate study at the University of Alberta and, in addition to his research record, he has received teaching awards at the University of Alberta, the University of Calgary, and at both the Faculty and USC Teaching Honor Roll level at Western.
Recognized as one of the world's leading Olympic Games experts and historians, Dr. Wamsley has appeared in various media publications/broadcasts nearly 1,600 times throughout his academic career, including with such news agencies as CTV, Global, CBC, BBC, CNN, New York Times, Times of London, and the Wall Street Journal.
The conferring of honorary degrees provides the university with an opportunity to convey to the world our values and principles by recognizing the contributions and accomplishments of exceptional individuals. The honorary doctorates conferred at each Convocation also provide our graduating students with exemplary role models and meaningful messages that will carry them into their futures.

A Tribute to Cheryl Sutton
Meet Cheryl Sutton, former Vice-President, Finance & Administration at Nipissing University. Cheryl dedicated many years of service to the Nipissing University community before her well-deserved retirement this summer. We shared this video at our 2024 convocation ceremonies to show Cheryl how many people she made a positive impact on.
