Job Description:
The Municipality of Callander is inviting individuals with an interest in event planning and community engagement to support local community events throughout the year. Working alongside municipal staff and Council’s Events Committee, this role offers hands‑on experience in planning, coordinating, and delivering community‑focused events in a small municipal setting.
This opportunity may be well suited to students seeking volunteer hours, experiential learning, or practical experience in event coordination and municipal operations.
Depending on interest, availability, and experience, the volunteer may assist with:
- Supporting the planning and coordination of municipal community events
- Assisting with event timelines, logistics, and preparation tasks
- Helping coordinate volunteers and on‑site roles
- Supporting communications related to events (e.g. schedules, checklists, signage, basic promotion support)
- Assisting with event‑day setup, activities, and wrap‑up
- Participating in post‑event debriefs or providing feedback where appropriate
Tasks and responsibilities can be adjusted to match individual learning goals and experience.
Required Qualification:
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC)
Desired Skills:
- Interest in event planning, community engagement, or municipal work
- Strong organization and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Comfortable interacting with the public in a community setting
- Previous event or volunteer experience is an asset, but not required
