International Youth Internship Program Opportunity

Exciting news that we will soon be accepting applications for our next cohort of the International Youth Internship Program, which will run from July to November 2026!

Offered through the Atlantic Council for International Cooperation and the Marine Institute at Memorial University of Newfoundland, the IYIP is a federally-funded program that offers youth the opportunity to gain valuable international work experience through fully funded internship placements with our partner organizations around the world.

IYIP at a glance:

  • The program is a 5-month commitment (6 weeks of virtual Pre-Departure Training, 1 week of in-person Pre-Departure Training, 16 weeks of international or virtual placement, and 1 week of Reintegration Training)
  • Interns are matched with partner organizations in Central America, the Caribbean, Africa, Asia, and the South Pacific based on academic and lived experience, knowledge and skills, and interests
  • All program costs are covered (including airfare, domestic and international ground transport, visa fees, health insurance, travel vaccinations and medications, pre-departure and post-internship training) and interns receive a living stipend while abroad

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this program, you must be:

  • 18-30 years old, at the start date of the internship
  • Hold Canadian citizenship or Permanent Residency

Please note that there are no educational or employment requirements to be eligible and successful in this program. We are looking for youth who are open-minded, curious, and adaptable.

The next application window will open from February 1st - 21st 2026!

Please help us amplify the call for applications by sharing this opportunity amongst your networks!
