Dr. Erfani in Nairobi

Congratulations to Nipissing’s Dr. Amir Erfani, associate professor of Sociology, who was invited to speak at the Eighth Annual PopPov Conference on Population, Reproductive Health, and Economic Development. The conference took place, January 22 – 25 in Nairobi, Kenya.

Dr. Erfani spoke about his research on the impact of family planning use on women’s educational advancement.

The conference brought together the world’s most prominent researchers on population and economic development, with a particular emphasis on African economics researchers, and those conducting research in Africa. Ninety researchers and policymakers from sub-Saharan Africa, Europe, the United States, Canada and South Asia attended the conference.  It was co-sponsored by The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, the Population Reference Bureau, and The African Population Health and Research Center.
