Spring 2021 convocation to be held virtually

With ongoing public health measures in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Nipissing University will once again hold its spring convocation virtually this June.

“Nipissing University recognizes the importance of convocation and the ceremonial act of crossing the stage, however the health and safety of our entire Nipissing community remains our priority,” said President and Vice-Chancellor (Interim), Cheryl Sutton. “The transition from graduand to graduate is an important moment in a student’s academic journey and the virtual convocation celebrations will offer students and their supporters the opportunity to mark this momentous achievement in a safe manner.”

Four virtual ceremony dates have been selected to allow for a more personalized convocation day experience:

  • Faculty of Arts & Science – Tuesday, June 15, 2021
  • Schulich School of Education – Thursday, June 17, 2021
  • School of Business, School of Criminology & Criminal Justice, School of Social Work  – Tuesday, June 22, 2021
  • School of Nursing – Thursday, June 24, 2021

This year’s graduates will also receive a Grad Box full of items to assist with their at-home celebrations.

Virtual Convocation 2021 will recognize those who graduated between August 2020 and May 2021. Once it is safe to do so, the University will invite members of the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 graduating classes back to campus to cross the stage and participate in an in-person event.

The deadline for students to apply to graduate for spring convocation is April 1, 2021. Students may access the application form on WebAdvisor and are also reminded to update their address and phone number within the portal in order to receive their degree package. Students who do not plan to take part in the virtual convocation celebrations must still apply to graduate.
