Open house attracts students

Nipissing rolled out the red carpet last weekend to invite prospective students and their families to discover everything that North Bay’s University has to offer during the annual March Open House.
The university welcomed more than 160 students and more than 300 supporters to campus for the one-day Open House on March 10.  Attendees travelled from all over Ontario to attend, with one student making the trip from British Columbia to see what advantages Nipissing offers its students.

Open House is an opportunity for guests to experience first hand Nipissing’s one student at a time approach to learning and compare it to other institutions. Students and guests were treated to tours of the campus with stops at the award-winning Harris Learning Library and the athletics centre, as well as Nipissing’s top-ranked residences and leading-edge laboratories.  They had the opportunity to meet NU’s therapy dogs and discuss academic programs and student services with Nipissing faculty, staff and current students. Students also got the chance to find out about all the opportunities available to them in the Services and Programs Fair.

“It’s an exciting time for students and families in the process of deciding where they will be going to university for the next few years,” said Valerie Edmunds, manager, student recruitment. “Students are very interested to learn about residence and our community, which is so supportive to the university.  It’s a great place to go to school. We know that the majority of students who take the time to visit our campus, choose to stay.”

Campus tours are available for any students and families members interested.  They take place on the following days:
Weekday visits are available at 1 p.m. (except holidays)
Saturday visits are available at 1 p.m. during the months of March and May.
Tours last approximately 2 hours.
Please contact us one week in advance of your planned visit. For more information, contactnuinfo@nipissingu.ca or 705.474.3450 ext. 4200.
