Education Career Fair attracting lots of attention

Employment opportunities are heating up at Nipissing’s annual Education Career Fair, with recruiting agencies clamouring to get a table, an increase in interview rooms and more Ontario recruiters looking to attract top graduates this year.

Hosted by Nipissing’s Schulich School Of Education, the Career Fair offers a chance for students and potential employers like school boards and international recruiting agencies to meet, discuss opportunities and even interview for a new job right on site.

It provides an excellent venue for students to meet prospective employers, showcase skills and discuss hiring practices.

This year, the Career Fair is attracting over 100 professionals representing 53 separate organizations and school boards including 22 local and provincial recruiters, eight national recruiters, and 23 international recruiters. On site interviews will be conducted by 30 of those recruiters.

The number of provincial recruiters attending the Education Career Fair has skyrocketed from just eight in 2017 to 22 this year; a 175 per cent increase.

The fair takes place On Friday, February 2, from 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in the Robert J. Surtees Student Athletics Centre.  It is followed by scheduled interviews and presentation from 1:30 – 4:30 p.m.

“This year, the fair has been very attractive to employers. Our students are obviously in high demand,” said Mylae Robson, professional learning coordinator in the Schulich School of Education and fair organizer. “I’ve been getting calls all year from organizations eager to secure their spot. In fact, people are still calling to get in. That’s testament to the value of the fair, as well as the respect employers have for a degree from the Schulich School of Education.”

The fair is open to all current Bachelor of Education students enrolled at Nipissing University, as well as any alumni with an education degree.
