Dr. Pitt shares Indigenous insight

Congratulations to Dr. Jonathan Pitt, a part-time instructor in the Schulich School of Education's Aboriginal Education Programs and former assistant professor of Education, who recently contributed his Indigenous insight for an article in the North Bay Nugget.

The article, Pictographs and City Hall, by Bill Steer aka Backroads Bill, appeared in the Thursday, June 7, edition of the North Bay Nugget Extra.

Dr. Pitt highlighted that Indigenous peoples had advanced wisdom and visions, knowing to place pictographs under protective rock ledges or in caves for the future. He notes that if you should come across a pictograph site to please not disturb them, such as the Kennedy Island site on the French River and represented in North Bay’s City Hall, as many have been lost to time and climatic conditions.
