Nationally ranked women’s hockey team featured

Nipissing’s women’s hockey team, currently ranked Number 7 in the University Sports National Top 10 ranking, is featured on the Ontario University Athletics magazine.

Titled From Cradle to Contender: The Rise of the Nipissing’s Women’s Hockey Team, the article looks at how Nipissing’s coach, Darren Turcotte, has managed to build a powerhouse team from scratch in just three years.

“Records and rankings aside, what Darren Turcotte has accomplished in North Bay is remarkable and, for my money, the quickest turnaround in this country's recent university sport history,” states the author, Carlos Verde. “Their style of play reflects the rugged realities of northern Ontario; tough and aggressive, they win more one-goal games than 5-0 blowouts.”
