The Department of Fine and Performing Arts is pleased to announce Nipissing University Fine Arts Juried Student Exhibition 2016 will be on show at Art on Main from March 16 to April 9.

The opening reception will be held on Friday March 18 at 7 p.m. at Art on Main in conjunction with the Downtown Gallery Hop.

This juried exhibition showcases the work of Nipissing University’s talented Fine Arts students and features an exciting and dynamic range of artwork. From painting to sculpture, photography to mixed media, this exhibition captures the quality and breadth of artistic expression being pursued at Nipissing.

The jurors this year are two professional artists from our local community:  Sarah Carlin-Ball and Anthony Tremblay.

“Our annual juried exhibition is such an important opportunity for our Fine Arts students,” said Amanda Burk, associate professor in the Department of Fine and Performing Arts and organizer of the exhibition this year.  “Students at all levels of study have an opportunity to submit their work for consideration in a jurying process that models professional level juries and exhibitions.  This annual exhibition is another way that we bring real life experiences to our students.  We are so pleased to be partnering with Art on Main this year to mount this exhibition and to be able to display our students’ work in a venue where connections can be fostered between established members of the local arts community and our emerging creative talent.”

“Art on Main is excited to be part of this exhibition of fine artists and it is an honour to usher in what, for some, is their first foray into the public eye. Congratulations to Nipissing’s Fine Arts Students,” said Pat Stamp, Artist and Founding Member of Art on Main.

This exhibition is made possible by the generous support of the Nipissing University Cultural Affairs Committee.
