The Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing (CASN) has announced that Laura Killam is the recipient of the 2022 CASN Nursing Education Excellence (Non-Tenured) Award. Killam is a part-time instructor at Nipissing University in the Registered Practical Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. She was presented with this award on Monday, November 21 at CASN’s virtual Awards Recognition Event.

Yesterday, the Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, announced an investment of more than $139 million to support 176 new and renewed Canada Research Chairs across Canada. Nipissing University is pleased to congratulate Dr. Colin McCarter who has been named Canada Research Chair (CRC) in Climate and Environmental Change and the recipient of $600,000 in funding. McCarter is an Assistant Professor cross-appointed in the Department of Geography and the Department of Biology and Chemistry in the Faculty of Arts and Science at Nipissing University.

Vic Fedeli, MPP for Nipissing made a virtual announcement today, of the Ontario government’s investment of $4M for Canadore College and Nipissing University. This funding will help provide a modern and safe learning environment for students, faculty and staff, both virtually and on campus.

Dr. Susan Srigley, professor and chair of Religions & Cultures at Nipissing University, along with four students from across disciplines in Arts & Science will be presenting at the virtual International Death Festival called "Lifting the Lid" on Friday, November 19 from 11a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (ET).

Due to the pandemic, North Bay Pride postponed its typical June pride month celebrations to September. The “We Are Pride Festival” kicks off on September 15 and runs until September 19. Nipissing University has partnered with North Bay Pride on two free events this month.
