It is hard to believe Homecoming Weekend is already upon us. With a few weeks of classes in the books, and the leaves beginning to change, Homecoming is a great time for our community to come together to celebrate our Lakers pride as we welcome our alumni back to campus.

The Nipissing University Alumni Advisory Board (NUAAB) has elected a new President and Vice-President to lead the board over the next three years. Laurel Muldoon, who served as NUAAB’s Vice-President from 2020 to 2023 will step into the President role while, while Melissa (MacNabb) Larochelle will serve as Vice-President.

It’s time to come home, Lakers! Nipissing alumni, students and community members are invited to Homecoming 2023 taking place Friday, September 22 to Sunday, September 24. With an action-packed weekend of activities planned, you won’t want to miss this opportunity to reconnect with your fellow Lakers and the University.

Growing up in Northern Ontario, Tegan McWhirter developed a passion for the outdoors. While pursuing her Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Environmental Science at Queen’s University, Tegan worked for the Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services (AFFES) division of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry as a Wildland Fire Fighter on the Type I (initial attack) crew.

Megan Odd graduated from Nipissing University with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice in 2020 and a Master of Arts in Sociology (MA Sociology) in 2022. During her time at Nipissing, Megan was actively engaged in her research and community as both an undergraduate and graduate student.
