NUAAB elects new leadership

The Nipissing University Alumni Advisory Board (NUAAB) has elected a new President and Vice-President to lead the board over the next three years. Laurel Muldoon, who served as NUAAB’s Vice-President from 2020 to 2023 will step into the President role while, while Melissa (MacNabb) Larochelle will serve as Vice-President.

Laurel Muldoon graduated from Nipissing University in 2015 with Bachelor of Arts Honours specialization in Environmental

Geography and in 2019 with a Master of Environmental Science. She also obtained two certificates from Nipissing in Geomatics and Environmental Planning. Laurel is looking forward to continuing the strategic initiatives previously set out by the board under the leadership of past NUABB president, Lisa Snider, and Laurel's previous position as Vice-President. She is excited about the new and exciting ideas emerging from recent NUAAB meetings with the addition of new members.

“NUAAB has the unique ability to contribute significantly to economic advancements for the University that enhance the student experience and that we hope will stay with them as they transition to alumni,” shared Laurel. “For our alumni, the unified goal is to create events and engagement that bring Lakers together from across the world to unite proudly and celebrate where their scholastic roots have come from.”

“The board we have cultivated today is strong, passionate and ready to represent our fellow Alumni,” shared Laurel. “I am looking forward to the next three years in this role as we align with Nipissing University’s Strategic Plan. I know great things are coming.”

Newly elected Vice-President, Melissa Larochelle, graduated from Nipissing University in 1999 with a Bachelor of Business Administration. In her new role, Melissa hopes to increase engagement with past alumni, specifically those who graduated in the early years like herself.

“I think it’s great to see where Nipissing has come from and the difference on campus from 2000 until now,” she shared. “I’m hoping this role will let me have an even greater impact on building Nipissing alumni engagement and overall support for Nipissing.”
