POSITION TITLE: Print Plus Student Assistant
CLOSING DATE: Open until Filled
EMPLOYMENT DATES: May to August 31, 2026
HOURS OF WORK: Average 35 hours per week
RATE OF PAY: $17.60 per hour + Vacation pay as determined by HR policy
JOB DESCRIPTION:
As an integral member of the in-house Print Shop team, the Student Assistant plays a key role in delivering high quality customer service and supporting a wide range of printing needs for university staff, faculty, students, and external clients. This position may also assist University Technology Services with summer IT related projects.
DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Provide courteous and professional customer service in person and by telephone
- Deliver a range of print services, including high‑volume printing and copying, binding, and scanning
- Demonstrate strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure
- Safely lift and move boxes of paper and other print shop materials
- Perform basic equipment and workspace maintenance as required
- Assist University Technology Services with IT‑related projects
- Provide front‑line customer support and ensure service continuity by covering front‑line staff during lunch and break periods.
- Process customer transactions and accurately handle cash, debit, and credit card payments
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong customer service skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally
- Ability to learn and perform a variety of print‑related services, including high‑volume printing, copying, binding, and scanning
- Demonstrated problem‑solving skills and the ability to remain calm and efficient in a fast‑paced environment
- Physically capable of safely lifting and moving boxes of paper and other materials
- Comfortable learning and performing basic equipment operation and routine maintenance
- Experience handling cash, debit, and credit card transactions is an asset
- Reliable, detail‑oriented, and able to work independently as well as part of a team
